The activities in this guide help early childhood learners develop an understanding of word families. The 20+ activities included in this guide are designed to supplement the study of the word families. Each lesson features a one ‘vowel-consonant’ chunk that is the basis for many common words, along with related activities. The ‘vowel-consonant’ chunk is also referred to as three phoneme words, consonant - vowel - consonant words, and CVC words.

This guide is an ideal resource for centers, independent work in the classroom or homework. The activities can be used independently for review or as a form of assessment or in combination with other related classroom activities.
