Mali’s flag, adopted in 1961, consists of three equally sized vertical stripes. The left stripe is green (symbolizing hope, nature and fertility); the middle is yellow (representing purity and mineral wealth); and the right stripe is red (standing for strength and the blood spilt for independence).
