GUINEA-BISSAU – Adopted in 1973, the flag of Guinea-Bissau is made up of three stripes - two equal size horizontal stripes (yellow, representing the sun, at the top - and green, representing lush vegetation, at the he bottom) – and, on the left side of the flag, a red vertical stripe signifying the blood spilt for the country's liberty with a black five-pointed star symbolizing freedom and the African people in the center of it.
