DOMINICA - Adopted in 1978, the flag of Dominica consists of a green field representing the lush vegetation of the island, and a three colored cross (made up of yellow, white, and black stripes) representing the Trinity and the Christian faith - its three colors recall the native Indians, the fertile soil, and the pure water. Charged at the center is a coat of arms which features the national bird emblem, and ten stars standing for the ten parishes.
