SYRIA - The flag of Syria was adopted in 1980. It is a horizontal tribar made up of three equally sized stripes; red at the top, white in the middle, and black at the bottom. Floating freely side by side in the middle whit stripe are two five point green stars, which represent Egypt and Syria, the two participating countries in the United Arab Republic.
